Perks of being a wallflower By: Stephen Chbosky
My most favorite book of all time is definitely Perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
I remember the exact moment the book was placed in my hand for the first time. It was the summer before my junior year of college, my mom had just received the book in the mail. We were together in the kitchen, I was sitting in the big black chair next to the window. She was standing, elbows placed on the kitchen island, the book just lying there next to her. I asked if she was reading it now or later…and if later could I read it now?
She said I could read it first, and then it happened! She walked over to me, and my chair, and placed the tiny yellow book in my hands. It was then that my life changed forever.
The story is based around a year in the life of a boy named Charlie, his struggles with the past and his eclectic new group of friends. Now, yes it has been turned into a movie and while I do own that movie…please do yourself a favor and read the book FIRST!!! It’s perfect, incredible, and all that’s left to say is “And in that moment I swear we were infinite.”
